Phosphrus Metabolism of teeth and Bone Distribution of Radioactive Phosphorus(P32)in Various Organs of the Rats

Abstract
Distribution of Radiophosphorus in various organs of rats were studied after the intraperitoneal injection of 5 micro-curie P32.
Twenty seven undergrown rats were sacrificed 1, 3, 5, 10, 40, 60, 80 and 100 hours after the administration of radiophosphorus.
The tissues were treated with the moist ashing method and the unit weight of samples were counted with the G.M. tube.
Radiophosphorus uptake per unit weight of samples showed the highest value in bone and followed in order of teeth, liver, kidney, spleen, lymphnode, salivary gland and muscle.
And maximum uptake in the soft tissue organs appeared at 3 hours after injection of radiophosphorus while that in the hard tissue organs showed at 20 hours.
Disappearance of radioactivity was rather slow in the bone and teeth and was considerably rapid in the soft tissue organs. And it was felt that the more uptake was rapid, the more the disappearance was high except the excretory organ, kidney.
